I am making my own shampoo. Most recipes call for a castille base. It leaves a film on my hair. Even the oil / lye bases seem pretty oily. It there an additive to cut some of the oilyness, like washing soda or borax?

Do you rinse with vinegar after the shampoo?
I can't use handmade liquid soap or a soap bar on my hair. It turns it into straw with lots of tangles. I have baby fine, straight blonde hair.

I will try the vinegar. Any other suggestions?

A little cider vinegar in a cup of water leaves a lovely apple smell and 'cuts' the film.
