I will make my first soap today

If somebody would tell me if I am in right direvtion, I would be veeery grateful.

So- I have:

crystal natural soab base
shea butter
E-vitamin
Red colourant
Green colourant
Orange and cinnamon fragrance oil
Rubbing alcolol i will have :)
Teflon mold

The plan is to make that "messy" soap with 2 colors that smells like X-mas.

I dont know how much base to I have to use, it will became clear. But if the info says that it is 1,5 litres(, then I can make 1,5 l soap? Yes?

So I will melt the soap base in need in the microwawe, but how many degrees?
So it is liquid. Now I separate them into 2 peaces. One will come green , the other red.

Then I will add essential oil 0,5-1 oz per lb.
Then colourant but how much?

When should I add shea butter and how much, what will it do with the soap?
When should I add E-vitamin and how much? I red that it makes your skin extra moisturized.

So now my two peaces are ready and I will pour them at the same time to the mold and then I will mix it little

Then I put my soap in to the freezer for 10 minutes and then I can cut it...

Yees? Or am I totally lost :?: 8) 8)

I thought litres were only liquid? I melt my base til it's almost dissoveld, then stir the rest of the way, so it doesn't overheat. I don't know which colors you are using, but make sure they don't bleed. I usually use micas for this. Be careful with the cinnamon. I would use very little, as it can be an irritant. I use up to 1 tablespoon of shea per lb. of base. I think that would be for 2.2 kilos. Vit. E will most likely not make a difference in your soap base; if you have a quality soap base to start with. Make sure you spritz alcohol between the layers so they adhere. Depending how much total soap base you use, it might tkae longer than 10 minutes to completely harden.

Thanks.

I did my first sope and I totally failed :D
I used the double boiler melting way. I melted it and then poured into another container and it dryed in few seconds  ....

So I throw it away and tried the microwawe. Maybe in the microwawe there is much higher temperature?
So I added colourant and fragrance and put in to the freezer for 10 min. It was OK. But I did not use rubbing alcohol because I do not have it yet. So I cut the bubbles away :D

But.... I don not understand, if I stirred it(it was clear) and began to pour, there were still some kind of peaces in it...like little clouds... what did I wrong?
I think that I melted wrong because it dryed so fast

Need some help! :D

Thanks!

No need to throw away your soap base  The awesome thing about melt and pour base is that you can remelt it and try again! Or you can just cut it up into chunks and use it as embedded soaps for your next batch...

At what temperature is your soap base pourable? Bases made by different companies have different pour temperatures as I have found this out the hard way myself.

Definitely check out the tutorial section on this site to use as a guideline :D

If there were any pieces left in your base after it was melted and you stirred, sounds like you need to let it melt a bit more.

I have more questions 8)

So- I melt the soap (Next time I will try double- boiler), I do not let it boil.
How much degrees aprox. can it be when I will add colourants and oils?

And how cooled down must it be if I pour(stir) it to the mold? (I will buy themometer).
I think I have made mistake there, because I see some cloudes in my totally clear soap....

I know it is different, but approximately....

Thanks again.
