All my soaps lately have been coming out oily and wet. I am using the BB clear and the white. The only thing I have added is FO and colorants. Is it possible I am using TOO much FO? How much is too much?

I don't know if this will help, but I notice when I take my soap out of my molds too soon, they have an oily feeling to them. Could that be a possibility?

Fragrance oils I think are generally 0.25 oz (7g) or 1 tsp (5ml) per pound of base. Depending on the fragrance you might want to use less (ie BB Lilac is VERY VERY strong). Essential oils usage rates depend very much on the type of oil.

I use the BB house bases and have only had problems like this with a couple of surplus fragrances. Not sure if it was the oil itself or not blending it well enough before pouring. I haven't gotten back around to trying them again since I have so many others! :D

Are the FO's and colors soap safe? Is it humid where you are?

Soapbuddy..
I am using BBs FO and PJs colorants so they are soap safe.

I live on the NC coast so it is still quite humid. Does that make a difference?

I just tested some M&P the other day for kicks, and it felt like what you were describing when it first came out. I'm in NC, but not on the coast. The humidity is MOSTLY gone here, but not all the way gone. The M&P felt "dry" later that day or the next...

Humidity does make a difference.

Is there any thing I can do to help with the humidity?

I have had this problem in the past when I have gotten impatient & put my soaps in the refrigerator! Usually I just leave them sit overnight and by morning they have dried and I wrap them then.

Yet another reason NOT to put your soap in the fridge! ;p

I read some reviews about the low sweat M&P. It has less glycerin than the regular M&P basis? Does it have enough moisturizing as a result? Anyone tried it for awhile?

Thanks much!
