I usually take a bit of the soap out in a scoop (I use a flour scoop, it gets out about a cup). I add my colorant to that, pour the rest of the soap in the mold and make a tic tac toe boardish design on the top. Then I use a small spatula or a knife to dredge and swirl the colored portion through the base soap. That's for Cold Process. For m&p, i do pretty much the same, just smaller amounts and usually a stick to swirl.....those shish-kabob ones are a pretty good size for that. Hope that helps!
