Teach Soap

Hi everyone -

I was looking over the past posts on colorants and also info on BB's site about micas. I still don't see (unless I didn't look well ) a post on mixing micas. Can I dry mix different micas (I tried mixing honeyed beige with rose pearl mica) or would I have to add them to a liquid base to get a certain color hue?
I really love how micas pop out in color in my mp soaps

Mix a tiny amount with a little bit of glycerin. That should help mix them better.

thnx soapbuddy! i was about to mix with alcohol but you got me just in time
now wouldn't the colors bleed just a bit with glycerin? i think i read in another post somewhere that FD&C colors mixed with glycerin bleed - or is that something totally different?
I might just have to buy that color with confidence book to keep in my reference arsenal...

I read somewhere that some micas bleed in soap - anyone have a list of what these are? I head Cellini Blue (which is a bummer as I have it) is one.

Hi, Miss Rhosie,

There was a thread a while back that might help. It started out talking about non-bleeding colorants, but quickly turned to micas. Hope this helps: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2160

As far as bleeding micas, BB's website says the blue mica (cellini lip safe), coral mica, and shamrock green will bleed. BB also told me the cellini red will probably also bleed. Look to see if the mica contains a D&C dye -- if it does, it will likely bleed.
