I noticed that BB's M&P base doesn't have SLS in it. I know I sound ignorant, but why do some companies use products with SLS? What exactly is it and what are the benefits/problems that come with it? Thanks!

It's a foaming agent, people like bubbles so it helps with them.

There are a lot of opinions about SLS/SLES and if you read on the net, you'd swear it was the devil's poison! Some bases have it, some don't ... I use a lovely Goatsmilk base which is very softening for the skin, very moisturising and yet still contains SLS.
