Honey-
Hi. Goodness I'm supposed to be packing for our vacation and getting our house in order a bit (we are doing a house swap) but saw a couple of posts I wanted to reply to. I just saw your cutter. WOW.
Right now the problem with my slicing is that it is never 100% consistent. I have a mitre box I bought where I keep moving the loaf and cutting one slice rather than something like your friend where the slots are consistent and you just move the blade. I'm totally impressed.
My husband was/is going to try and bulid something if you can imagine in the same way but where a lever comes down (like an egg slicer) and uses wires or something to slice the soap evenly. I think my husband could more easily whip up something like what your friend did? Would your friend be able/willing to send me any drawings/plans in how they did that? If I lived in Ireland I'd come and meet you but alas , I'm here in Berkeley - but reuse is good here and my husband has a woodshop (he builds guitars for fun - I do soap
) and plenty of wood. Also if you friend can tell you what kind of wood she/he used?
All my best
Hilary
