Teach Soap

Can anyone tell me more about the stephenson soap base? I have been reading articles that this is one of the best brands for melt and pour? Is this true and if so, why is it so special?

I've used the house BB base, the shea BB base, and the Stephenson bases. I find them all to be about the same. I currently use Stephenson bases because I found a supplier that is closer and charges less on shipping with the Stephenson bases at about the same price as the house BB bases - so overall its faster and less expensive for me to get base. I would prefer to use the BB stuff, but it just doesn't make sense for me anymore -- I live on the East coast.

The difference between the 2 brands is really in the ingredients. Here they are:

Stephenson clear: Purified Water , Glycerin, Sodium Stearate, Sorbitol, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Laureth Sulphate (SLES), Stearic Acid, Lauric Acid, Sodium Chloride

: Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Safflower Oil, Glycerine (kosher, of vegetable origin), Purified Water, Sodium Hydroxide (saponifying agent), Sorbitol (moisturizer), Sorbitan oleate (emulsifer), Soy bean protein (conditioner)

I think they both melt and mold very well, but I appreciate the quality from BB much more. But it's a personal choice, of course!
