I am relatively new to mp soap making. I have tried to swirl my soaps but they never come out looking like some of the bars I see online. Does anybody have any tips? If you use the double pour method from AnneMarie's Soap Queen video do you swirl it after you pour or do the colors meld themselves together? Any help would be appreciated. :D

to swirl mine I pour one solid color into the mold and then I pour lines going back and fourth across the mold (I prefer the 8 bar tray molds) then take a skewer and every 1/2 inch or so make a line the opposite way taht the soap was poured. That isn't very good wording but I hope it works

I recently did the swirl method A-M does in the video in the 2.5 pound loaf. It worked beautifully. Though I rushed a little in the middle and it got a little hairy. But in the end ... swirls aren't perfect so that's perfect! :)

Temperature is big key factor, I believe  with the swirling melt & pour loaf. You want it to be thicker to give a nice swirl, so if don't have a heat thermometer gun. I would recommend getting one because they are wonderful for this project and other's like it  Also you can use a knife for design aspects!

Erin,
Did you pull the swirls through the soap or does it swirl itself? Your cupcake soaps are beautiful.
Thanks

With mine, I waited til they bottom layer developed a thin skin, then I made small holes with toothpicks and poured the next layer. It swirled itself.

Ooh - that's so cool soapbuddy! I love the hole-poking method! I'll definitely have to give that a try. Thanks for sharing!

After seeing how my first m&p behaved the other day, the poking holes method sounds like great idea. I will remember to pour not-so hot this time around. :)

I think I waited too long for my bottom layer. I poked and I poked. But It was too thick. At least I got

Does anyone have pics of these methods? This one is letting the first clear base sit for up to 15 min, then poking holes and then pouring the second base over the top. But they don't turn out as you wished. Still pretty, I was looking for more swirling.
