Hi. I'm trying a new design with my loaf and am stuck on what to do. It's supposed to be "Cotton Candy". I'm still on that theme for my kids carnival and selling my soaps. I put in one layer of white, then tilted the loaf mold to get the pink and blue (tirangle layers). I left about 1/4" of space left to 'try' and swirl the top. I sprayed with alcohol, then pour the soap on each side till they met in the middle and attempted to swirl. It started getting to thick once I started swirling but in the end I kind of liked the top. It did kind of remind me then of Cotton Candy. However after I sliced - that top layer fell off some of the soaps. (I'm rebatching and trying again). When you look at my soap you can also see that fourth layer (which I'm not satisfied with). Besides the swirling aspect - is the problem also that one really can't swirl a "fourth" layer. Maybe I was mixing up the alcohol too and therefore it really couldn't stick?

Thanks

I'm still having problems loading my photos even after following SoapyLoves directions. Here's my flickr account so you can see what I am referring to. Thanks for looking and giving me any advice.

Did you add the last layer when the soap was already cool? Did you use a spritz of alcohol between each layer?
It's harder to swirl with MP than it is with CP.

Yep - I did spritz between layers. I can't recall if I did the last (swirl) layer when the previous was cool or beyond cool. I had learned a nice technique from SoapyLove at a class she taught in my area back in December. However the 'swirl' she taught in the class was the first layer (and it was in a silicone brownie pan) - which may have been the trick in terms of the technique.

I ended up rebatching the whole thing (still redoing the same first 3 layers as before) and took a different approach to that top layer that I'm actually happy with in terms of 'recovery' with the soap and the design that I think will still be attractive to sell.

I think I'll save 'swirling' for another day/time.

I'll repost the new photo shortly (and even try again to post on this site!!)
Thanks

You're welcome. I'm glad you were able to save it.
