Teach Soap

Hello everyone!

I've just received my loaf mold from soapequipment.com and couldn't wait to start working on it.

I created two loafs but both came out with a curved top.



Does anyone have a recommendation on how to avoid this curved top and get a flat one?

Actually I was looking for a way to save soap and maintain a good looking product, I don't want to waste any of the soap I'm making.

is that the shape of the mold, or is that actually the top surface of the soap where it's curved?

I'm certainly no mp expert, but I do enjoy playing with it.........been doing it more and more to be honest with you. How hot are you pouring? To my way of thinking, if you pour at much cooler temps, you wont get that curving. You know how on certain candle waxes, you have to repour because it sort of shrinks in the middle as it cures? But I'm thinking that this is something similar. I may be wayyyy off here, but again, that's my way of thinking.....lol

I just went to look to see their MP molds. Exactly which one do you have? If it's rectangular and the concave portion is at the top, try pouring cooler.

I have the same molds. Also I've experienced the same problem with the curved top. Pour your soap at a cooler temperature, and/or allow the soap to overflow just a bit (optional). Once your soap has cured, scrap the excess soap from the top of the mold.

Also make sure you place a sheet of wax paper under the mold if you allow the soap to overflow a little. Easy clean up.
