Teach Soap

I'm using this year to experiment and explore a lot of craft ideas I've had in the past. Soap making is on the list. Though nothing I made even compares to the soaps you guys are making. Love the Flaunt It Gallery!!!

So, I'm thinking back to my M&P days and have a few questions before I get started again.

When I made M&P, I didn't really use anything to keep it from "melting". I packaged it in saran wrap, then shrink wrap and finally clam shells. It had a tendency to "sweat" and shrink. Is it the shrink wrap or the soap? How do I get it to behave and not melt?

I really want to move beyond the simple pour and try marbling and some of the other great techniques (I didn't realize some many artsy soaps could be made with this). Any suggestions where to start? Anne Marie I'm looking for your marbling tutorial!!!

Last question, I have gingerbread clamshells I was going to use for Christmas shows years ago. I tried using a pipette to fill the piping and buttons without success. What other tools can I use for intricate tasks like that?

I think that Anne-Marie's blog is an incredible resource for melt and pour projects and tips. to find all posts tagged with "melt and pour".

I also like to blog about M&P techniques. You can to find my posts about actual tutorials or just bits of info.

To fill in details, I highly recommend getting the from Bramble Berry. You can see how it's used in this tutorial and these .

You can find a few other discussions about wrapping soaps in the forum, and I'm sure others will chime in about that here, too.

Thanks for the links. I went onto Anne-Marie's blog yesterday, but it took too long to load & some of the images wouldn't come up. I wasn't in a patient "web" mood so I'll check it out today. I'm hoping to find that marbling tutorial.

Reading through the other posts I discovered the Melt & Pour Toolkit and plan to buy that very soon. I want to use up the MP bases I already have before I buy more so I'll probably start with color.

BTW, love your soap party tutorial and the ezine looks great! Can't wait to check out your blog.
