Teach Soap

So does this information on Oriental Trading's site:

mean that I can sell my toy-embedded soaps aimed at kids over 4? At least until Feb 10th of next year when I would have to have the testing done myself? I already label that they are not intended for 4 and under but I guess I need to put the "CHOKING HAZARD" on the ones with small toys like aliens.

I am confident that the bases BB sells are lead and phthalate-free. Fragrances do not use one of the 6 banned types of phthalates.

So am in the clear for a while? This CPSIA thing is like getting rid of a hangnail by shooting off your whole foot.

A lot of their items come from China. I don't know how that fares with the new ruling.

So long as your vendor has had the ducks tested, you should be fine and not have to do any testing yourself. The rules on this are still being worked out so it's difficult to say for certain what will happen but my understanding is that if your vendor tests the ducks and you have that documentation and sell the ducks in soaps that you'll be covered under your vendor's initial testing.

I'll keep you posted if I find out or learn anything differently.

You will need to get the certificate from them stating that they have been tested. If it comes back to you and you don't have that proof, you could still be fined. There has been a ton of discussion on this at mompack.com. What about colorants? That is my question. I mean, I am pretty sure they don't contain lead but how do we know? Anyone?
