Good very early morning guy's. I have a question about making embeds. I want to use one of those cardboard tubes that hold paper towels as a mold to make some embeds (seems more cost effective) My question is would I have to line the inside like I would if I were using a wooden mold?
Seems everything to me nowadays is a potential soap mold. LOL!!!

You would definitely need to line it. Melted MP soap would get absorbed right into the cardboard.

Hi guy's, so today I finally got the courage to try and make a few embeds for the homemade molds I created a few days.
I used my goatsmilk M&P. I didn't add anything to it but the mica powder. I made 1- tube of Purple and 1- tube of Orange.
What I discovered and I'd read this earlier on in my research of this craft, was that the Goatsmilk M&P soap bases have a tendency to leave a film behind on the skin. STOP, I noticed that there was a film in my stainless steel sink, and also on my hands. This has really freaked me out and I don't know how I'm going to fix this. Since I can't superfat a M&P does anyone have a suggestion on what I can do so I don't have this film on a finished soap product? Also could it have something to do with the fact that I didn't use any butters or oils in the embeds? That doesn't seem very likely but I guess it's possible, at least I hope that the case!!! Thanks so much. PLEASE HURRY and let me know, I'm freaked out!!!

Where did your MP base come from? You should be able to use it as is without the addition of any oils or butters. My base came from BB and I don't get a residue like you describe. Do you have hard or soft water?
Maybe that has something to do with it.

Hi Soapbuddy, I purchased by soap from WSP. I'm not sure what type of water we have in Illinois hard or soft. Is there anything I can do to counter this? Thanks so much!!!

WOW, I had a pretty disastrous morning with this melt & pour soap. I was able to complete one task which was to make some embeds for the tops of one of my future soap projects. I made these from the tubes I made from tissue rolls.
The soap will be scented with Blood orange, Vanilla & Ylang Ylang.
Another thing I discovered is that soaping even with a melt & pour Isn't for the faint at heart. I reckon, I'm going to mess up a ton of soap trying to master this craft.
I do have another question? What should the internal temperature of my soap be before I add the Mica that I break down with alcohol? The reason I'm asking is because this morning I added my beautiful metallic sage green to what I can only assume was a too hot soap base, and it turned a very ugly, murky, beigy type of green. I just wanted to cry, but I didn't. Any ideas on what I did wrong?

I'll try and post the photo later, I'm way too stressed right now. Sorry!!

I add the mica when the MP soap is maybe 130 degrees?
Some micas are not soap stable. Where did the mica come from or does the vendor list this green as soap stable?

It was from Crafters choice Soapbuddy!!! Another thing is that my soap reeks of the alcohol I used to create my embeds. That might be because i used 91 % Isopropyl alcohol.
