Teach Soap

Hi, everyone. I'm new to the board here and have some questions. Do any of you shrink wrap your finished MP soaps? I packaged mine in polypro bags and impulse sealed them. A week later, I'm starting to see some sweating, mostly on the clear MP . What do you all do when that happens? I'm afraid a customer would think that it's mold. Is it better having the wrap tight against the soap? If I just put them in boxes without wrapping, they will dry out, right?

If you have any humidity, it's the soap's glycerin that's sweating out. I would shrink wrap them completely. Polypro bags don't work as well for this. If you put them in boxes, moisture can get to them as well, making the MP sweat.

Thanks, soapbuddy. My dh has been running the humidifier everyday lately, guess that did it? I'll get them wrapped up nice and tight tonight.

After you wrap them in shrink wrap you can go over them quickly with a hair dryer. This tightens and shrinks up the wrap, giving it a nice smooth look.
Just be careful and use use quick sweeping motions or else the hair dryer will melt your soaps.

I use a shrink wrap system from National Shrink Wrap. PJ uses the same system and we both highly recommend it. If you make a lot of soaps, you might want to consider this system. Before I started my business, I used shrink wrap bags that I bought off of Ebay.
