Do you mean your are melting the soap in the molds while you melt in the microwave..? if so, do not do that..:) .. Melt it in a pyrex measuring cup/covered with plastic wrap. Then pour it into your molds.. It's hard to understand some of what you wrote but that's what i got from it.. That you are melting your soap in the plastic mold... Also, after I melt it in the pyrex measuring cup I don't pour it into a mold until it's 120 degrees. This is mainly because I'm waiting so that no essential oil scent burns off. You can pour it hotter than that into a mold.

Hope this helped with your problem.

Rhonda

Is your soap still pretty hot when you pour it in? I would wait a bit longer to pour the soap in. The soap should not be steaming and you should be able to hold and keep your hand pressed against the bottom of the pyrex container. If you can not do this then your soap is too hot to pour. :)

Assume you are melting enough M&P soap for 4 large bars:

1) Cut the M&P soap into ice cube sized chunks or smaller.
2) Cover your heat resistant container (glass or high end plastic) with plastic wrap.
3) Zap in the microwave for no longer than 55 seconds at a time, then stir.
4) If it needs more melting place cover it and zap it in the microwave for another 20 seconds, then stir and keep doing that until it's evenly melted.
5) To determine if it's cool enough to pour into your mold, uncover the heated soap and stick your pinkie finger in the melted soap and do not pour until you can hold your finger in there without pain. Stir and Cover soap between "pinkie" checks.

NEVER overheat M&P soap. :)

For melt and pour we recommend adding .25 to .5 ounces of fragrance per pound of soap.

Color really depends on how dark you want the soap to be, it is mostly personal preference. I always start with just a tad/pinch and then add more if I want it darker.
