Teach Soap

(Hello all, because I am new here).

I am planning an experiment involving a desert mould and Melt and Pour soap. There is no information on the packaging of the mould specifying what temperatures it could take, however it is designed for yogurt or ice cream, hence my challenge trying to use it for soap. It does say that the mould is dishwasher safe, so does that mean it can take melted soap base?

I am currently just thinking of ideas that might enable me to get away with this...one involves setting the mould in a dish of water with ice chunks in, then pouring the soap. Or I could put chopped or grated solid soap in the cavities, then pour over that. Also considering freezing the mould before pouring, or working in stripes, so there is only one thin layer setting at a time.

Am I missing a great way to keep the mould cool while pouring hot soap? Has anyone else ever tried to convince a cold desert mould to do soap?

Is it a plastic mold? I would think if you put the mold in water with ice around it, the melted MP soap base would set up too fast. Is the mold flexible enough to get the soap out?

It is made from silicone, and it is very flexible, it turns inside out quite easily.

The thing is this one says that it is not suitable for baking, that is what worried me, but it does say dishwasher safe, and that is pretty hot, so that was me confused. Thinking about it, maybe they don't recommend it for baking because of the fine detail in the design, perhaps cake would burn or get too dry in the small corners of the shapes (they are snowflakes).

So when some silicone moulds buckle when they are full of soap, is that because of the weight?

Some thin silicone molds need to be supported. Depending an the size of the mold, try putting the mold inside a pan with sides and fill the bottom with sand or uncooked rice. Place the mold into the sand or rice, so the sides are supported.
