Hi, I was trying to do some reading about making shaving soaps. I have done a few recipes that use a melt and pour base. If I make them for sale, don't they still come under the same laws and regulations as "soap" usually does? I would like to have a good recipe for a cold process shaving soap but I haven't found one yet that I wanted to try. Thanks for the help. V

There is a shaving MP soap base that you can purchase. If you make them for sale, and depending what the ingredients of the base are, it's either a soap or a cosmetic. If it's a cosmetic, you need to follow all the FDA rules and regs for cosmetics, including a complete ingredient label. Cold process shaving soap is not easy. It uses different ingredients then normally used in a regular CP soap. It took me a year to come up with a good CP shaving soap.

That's what I am afraid of--it taking a very long time to get something right on it. Thanks for the advice. V
