I keep reading not to overheat my M&P base. Usually mine ends up almost boiling in the micro...so I'm led to believe I'm making it too hot. My question is: What are the benefits of heating it slower and at a slower temp? I guess I'm fairly happy with the way my soap turns out, but maybe it could be better and I just don't know it.

Overheating causes you to lose glycerin from your soap and can also cause your soap to take on a yellowish hue.

Genny...yes it does come out rather yellowish.

It is best to melt it gently and slowly. If it's boiling, you heated it up too much.

Also, it gets this horrible smell, that doesn't go away.
