our 4th bedroom is actually my stock room. I make my soaps in the kitchen though.

Soon though, I'll be moving it all into the "guest cottage" at my mother's.......which is right next door to me........lol It's perfect in there. 2 rooms (living room and a bedroom which will be my office and my stock room) and a kitchen and a bathroom. That way everything will be contained in one building and no moving things back and forth between rooms!!

this is actually what my stock room looks like......it needs to be cleaned and reorganized. basically alot of shelving units. alot of rubbermaid containers. alot of boxes. and ALOT of masking tape to label it all.

I make my soaps in the kitchen, too. And, I hate to admit this...my kitchen counters look like a Pyrex Convention! Since I'm making products daily to get ready for holiday orders, I don't always take the time to put my containers away.

I have two large curing racks in my spare room and that is where I store my other soaping supplies (oils, butters, etc.). I store my fragrance and essential oils in stand-up drawers that I keep in my computer room.

So far my husband hasn't said anything, but I think that the soaping stuff has taken over my house!

In my old home from about 11 years ago, I turned the spare bedroom into the soapmaking area and purchased four hot plates from a cooking supply store for all the double boiling etc... With a microwave, shelving and some tables, it was almost as convenient as using the kitchen.

Thanks everyone for your replies.. and for pictures of your stockroom, naturescauldron- That's what I'm talking about!!! Okay, I'm inspired to turn an "extra" room into my soaproom. I just wanted to know how practical it would be before I started to buy shelves, or cabinets or whatever. Would still love to hear more..... :D

i have 4 shelving units in there, I dont thnk any of them are visible from that shot.......but they come from walmart. CHEAP metal shelving that you put together yourself. they're like less than 15 bucks a unit and when first put together, you think "i dont think this is going to hold much". But wow......once you start stocking the shleves (start at the bottom and work up!!) they hold ALOT. I love shelves...... Over to the right in that pic you'll see an old dresser. My neighbor was throwing it out because the drawers stick and it's just plain ugly. I really dont care what it looks like. A bar of soap rubbed on the wood where the drawers slide in, and it works good as new. Great for storage and stuff. I just love "storage" type things....... I'm such an organizer. You'd think I'd be better able to organize my time eh???

Steph, I'm heading for Wal-mart this weekend and get me some shelves! I like the dresser idea for storage. I'm going to get mine out of the garage and haul it inside...if you think YOURS is ugly, you should see this one. lol My kids will be happy to get the pantry shelves filled with snacks instead of wrapped soap.

I like the wood bookcases, are they IKEA?

IKEA.........hahaha........nope. They were built from when someone tore down a wooden privacy fence. What a great way to recycle some great perfectly usable wood eh?? if you look at the pic again, now knowing where the wood came from, you should be able to see it perfectly!!
