 Post subject: oz in weight VS fluid oz

Hi,

After my first MP I thought of something. How can weighing 4 oz out on a scale be the same as 4 fluid oz.? I had weighed out 8oz for my first soap but didn't think of looking at what measurement line it reached on the pyrex measuring cup. If it's not a big deal then that's fine I was just wondering.

Fluid ounces will be different depending on the ingredient. For accuracy, you need to convert everything over to grams.

Depending on the molecular structure of an ingredient, 8 ozs. of oil will not reach the same mark on your cup as 8 ozs. of water will. Always go by the weight on your scale.
