I'm a complete newbie and am having a great time! I've read I think every single post on Soap Queen and have watched all the M&P episodes of soapqueen tv. Plus I spend hours in here late at night! Sooo much to learn.
So tonight my adventures were:
I made a plain shaving soap for my brother - looks good but I'll have to see what he thinks!
I made a gardener's soap for my mom. I used goat's milk base, purple mica, and lavender herb FO. It looks and smells good but the pumice sank. It makes a cool layer effect but not really what I was going for! Wait until it's cooler and stir more next time??

I tried some detailed layers (this was inspired by all that soap queen tv!) I used organic m&p base with a little goat's milk base in the lighter part. I had lots of fun with the metallic mica sample set - and even dusted the top of the boots with copper mica for extra shimmer. It looks really cool, BUT the layers didn't stick!
I think I was so worried about melting the bottom layer that I waited too long to pour the next one. I'll keep practicing this one because all my family in Wyoming is getting a bar of this for Christmas!

My other interest in this new hobby (besides gifts) is to make a soap that works for (and maybe even helps) with my eczema and my bf's psoriasis. First attempt at that: I made bars with olive oil and goat's milk base, a bit of castor oil and sweet almond oil, spirulina and a tiny bit of orange EO to balance out the nasty smell of the castor oil. I washed my hands with it and it seems ok - I'll see how it works in the shower!

I can't wait to try more! <3
