Sorry, should have explained. EU cosmetics legislation (which covers soap) listed 26 known allergens that can be contained in both EOs and FOs - by law, you have to work out the level of allergens in each FO (or EO) and, if its at a higher than stated level, then you need to state the name of that allergen. Some FOs are crammed full of them and it can make a label look like a chemistry class - a little off putting for customers. So, over here, you can buy allergen free FOs so that you can avoid all that hassle.

I think anyone from the US selling to the EU should be aware of the requirements as I'm sure the soaps would have to list the allergens (if they are present).

I have an allergen calculator and the supplier states the presence and percentage of the allergen on their MSDS. I then have to input them into the calculator and it tells me if I have to declare the allergen or not.

Hope that explains it!!!

Got it; thank you! It would be nice if I could get a MSDS sheet like that here in the US.

I suppose if there's no requirement to provide the info, they won't do it - I imagine they have to pay for testing etc to be able to state the right levels, so if it wasn't needed, they'd not spend the money.

If you check , they sell US grade FOs (which I can buy and use for myself but cannot sell products on containing these FOs) and also provide MSDS's - so you might get lucky and find the info there? Worth checking out anyways.

I've really been inspired by these heavenly fragrances in my first BB order. They have a new, big fan! Anne Marie really got me with the free sample of Pearberry that she included. I made a small batch and like it very much, and love the way it smells. Here it is: Image

Then I was dying to try Cedar and Saffron. My plan was to do a mahogany color with yellow, but when I saw my violet mica sitting next to my cappachino, plans changed. Here is how it turned out.

Dear Barbara,
Your soaps are BEAUTIFUL! Any little tip you can pass on as to how you get the colors/layers? Or, is it a case of "you could tell me but then you would have to kill me"? :( :)

So I'm been make lots of M&P over the last few weeks. Why you ask? Well our neighbours 50,000 lite pool collapsed about 3 months ago and flooded our entire fully furnished basement. My soap supplies for the most part were saved which is a blessings. The problem was a lot of my supplies were in boxes during it all (it's still going on but the majority of it is done) so all I could do was make M&P in the meantime.

Licorice Mini Cube (this was a trial one to see how it would work)

I know some of the photos are blurry as my camera is a bit finicky.

Good job soapchick!
May I make a suggestion? On the soy candle if you make the background one color, the letters will be easier to read.

Love all the soaps Soap Chick but my favourite is the Lime Coconut. Can l please ask how you made the feather effect you have on the top of the soap.I always have great problems with making the tops look attractive and this one looks fabulous.

They are lovely!!

Baraka - I understand you not wanting to give everything away, I've been asked before about things and you do want to hold back a little but feel bad for doing it. I do have a question though, given you spend so long making the soaps, is it working out well re covering your costs?

Soapchick - love the lime one best too and I was going to ask the question about the feathering as well!!!

pops1,

Thanks, I didn't take notes on the Lime Coconut one as it was for a friend. It was the first time I've done a soap like that and I don't know if I'll be able to do it again.

Barbara- You made me laugh! Thanks! Your comments about a person's artwork is absolutely understandable. Again, your work is beautuful.

Soapchick- Wonderful, and fun!, soaps! Thank you for sharing. I am very sorry for the flooding; a big mess, I am sure. Sounds like you are coping well though with your "soap therapy". Good for you.
