The pics worked! But does the soap??? What a day. My goal is the perfect Onesie for my daughter's baby shower. i have till end of August to work on this. I'm waiting for more supplies from Brambleberry. I thought for sure the onesie would fall apart. I tried to do the seams using a medical syringe. the soap hardened in the syringe quickly. I was in a panic as i had 3 syringes and was shaking. I can't work fast. The blue was all over the place so when dry, I scratched the excess away. It looked clumpy. Then I put a layer of clear soap. looks like a thick layer. i thought for sure the layers wouldn't adhere. Spritzed the tie and thought for sure it would bleed. added a white layer which is a a bit bubbly on the back. I forgot how long to wait to remove from the mold. I was anxious after an hour. i put it in the fridge for a fer min. and then hot water on the bottom of the mold. It came out, and i did damage a corner of the mold, probably with my finger nail. Voila! The tie is a little crooked, and there are many flaws, but for a first time, i think it's great!!! Help!! All suggestions are welcome.
My soap did boil, hardened too quick to work, clumps while waiting for cool down, there was non adhering of a layer in the airplane, How long do I wait to remove the Onesie, and avoid damage??? Its a 4 1/2 oz mold. I did lots of alcohol spritzes.
I actually did the embedded airplanes first. They are erasers. I knew their height would just make it. I was doing clear and added blue to make sure it's clear. I didnt realize this brand was already clear, so it's translucent blue. I checked how many ounces the molds took, melted, and wasn't enough so there are 3 layers. Had to keep melting more. Next time i will weigh the chunks. The first layer in one of them didn't adhere. It took time for me to be brave and add a layer. maybe it was too late. In between microwaving more, checking temperatures, stirring, (film would develop while waiting for right temp, then stirred and little globs went in my mold.....WHY oh WHY???? Then I had excess soap and quickly dumped an ice tray. I think my scraps came out the best.
Next try, I'll be more relaxed. Help!!
Gracie

Breathe! :D
The soap looks fine. If I was you, I wouldn't let the MP soap base boil. It shortens the life span of your base. If you are melting in the micro, use short bursts til it's just about melted. Then stir the rest of the way. Where did your base come from?

You can leave the soap in the mold til it's completely cool, then pop out. I put mine in the freezer for about 10 minutes and they pop right out.

Thank you. The brand of the base is "Life of the Party".

Wow! Excellent results for you first time - and you tried a lot of techniques in one hit. Well done!

Bestdoll, I started with Life of the Party. They set up quickly, are drying to your skin and the colors bleed. Now I use Bramble Berry. You have more time to create, the quality of the base is excellent and my hands have not dried out yet! These are adorable - great job!

The soaps look really good, first time or not! I noticed that some of you gave Life of the Party soap bases a bad review, thanks for the warning. I have used Life of the Party and BB soap bases and you really can't compare the two. BB soap bases are smoother and easier to work with, they don't heat up as much. I do have a question though about Life of the Party, I was given a LOTP Soap Kettle and I was wondering whether this was a good tool to use for MP or not? the person who gave it to me had left over base in it and I re-melted it and it seemed that it got too hot, but I don't know if it was because the base had been sitting there or if the kettle is no good to use. I had been using the microwave (which seems to be what everyone else uses). What's your opinion on the Soap Kettle?

Thank you for all your compliments. I received my order today from brambleberry. i received super pearly white mica, as described in one of the videos. how much do you put in per 4 ounces? I also received fine silver glitter to add to the seams. i think i should have ordered irridescent glitter. how much would i add for the onesie seams? I also received droppers. will the soap harden in them? what if it does? what do i do? How much time do I have after filling the seams?
I'm going to try the onesies again tomorrow.

I was going to do all the onesies with the handsome tie. We are all going to iron on real onesies at the shower. I took the iron ons, scanned them, resized them in my print shop program and printed them on water soluable paper for the soap onesies. then, the soap will match the iron project.

Wednsday, i'll have my 2 1/2 grandson for a week, so it's all over tomorrow. I return to work the 30, so life will be weekends only for all the projects I work on. I made the airplane embedded soap for him and my great nephew (3 yr.). we will (I will) iron on scooby and mickey shirts with them. Then I shrunk and printed scooby and mickey for soap, which I will also do tomorrow.

After playing with the life of party soap tomorrow, and working slow and calm, I'll see if i have to order from BB.

Thank you again,
Gracie
