Is there a soapmaking board like this, that is more active?
I belong to the red hat society, and we have a board where the posting never stops, I can ask a question and 15 min., later, I will have not one, but several answers.

thats sort of what I'm looking for.

Sorry it has been taking you a while to get an answer! This is a pretty new forum and we hope to eventually be the more active forum you are describing. I think we are doing good so far. I also really like all the friendly and knowledgeable people here. :D

However, if you do a Google search for 'soap making forum' there are a bunch that come up.

In my own opinion..
There are quite a few boards out there, but I don't think they are.. lets say.. kind or patient and definitely as nice as this board. Be careful of the nasty soap boards!
There is one inpaticular you need to be very careful about about what you might ask , especially if it's a question from a new person or something that's been asked and answered before. That board will scare anyone from ever asking another question and they make no secret about it.

Good Luck

I agree. We might not get as busy, but we are friendly and welcome newbies questions.

I second what Soap Buddy said! This is a GREAT forum and everyone seems quite helpful.

I belong to several other forums, unrelated to soaping, though. People there are nasty - especially to newbies, there are "clicks", and there is a lot of in-fighting and power struggles.

This is the most pleasant forum that I've belonged to!

I agree. I belong to a few other boards, soaping and non and lemme tell ya, you do one little thing they don't like and you get yelled at! lol. Kind of ridiculous to me. We're all there because we have something in common. I still hang out here because if everyone went looking for the busier boards there would be no one left :P Try to be patient and if you know any other soapers get the word out to have them join us!

I echo what everyone else says....and I'll take comfort over speed any day. Kinda like riding a Ninja versus a BMW cruiser. 8)

Yeah, and we have Soap Buddy! :D

After getting into heated "battles" with some arrogant, over-controlling people on other boards, I rarely create posts or make comments on them. But, I've felt like that here. I can't get over how nice everyone is.

Normally I'm a pretty active member on this board but the past 3 months or so have nearly overwhelmed me with family illness and finally the death of my pop last week. I know another soapmaker on this list is working on a book and Anne-Marie always has at least 9 irons in the fire at one time. But I assure you if you stick around a couple more months you will be amazed by the knowledge base here and the philosophy of this forum's members. Many of us here are at base teachers and find no greater thrill than to share a tip or trick we just picked up or created and watch just how far others can push the envelope.

If you look at the "show off" board you will not only see soaps you will never see anywhere else, but you will also see those who posted the pictures teaching their fellow soapers how to achieve the effect. Everyone here is so talented and so capable there is more enthusiasm to teach and share a new found technique than there is time spent worrying about someone duplicating your efforts and competing with you. We all have something amazing to bring to the table and there seems to be no ceiling on the creativity of the soap makers and artists Anne-Marie has attracted to her forum. :)

Whenever I have time I come here to see if I can help someone with a M&P question, some amazing new fragrance or technique everyone is talking about.

Hang in there, I'm sure you'll find it worth it.

PJ,

I am a member of a couple of other soap boards and I have posted once maybe twice on each. For some reason this board feels more like "home" and the people on here are very nice and I have never experienced any rudeness. Every one is always willing to help and spread the knowledge. I don't think you will find a more helpful board than this one!

PJ, you are so incredibly talented and generous with your techniques! I love reading your posts. I'm glad you are here - whenever you can drop in!

And I'm really sorry to hear about your father. I'm sending you hugs and good feelings! xoxo!

When I first started soaping a year ago, I was always here, asking questions, posting comments, whatever. But lately the board has changed, and no! I don't mean that negatively!!! Sometime when I had my back turned, the forum got changed around, and I lost my posting count, which was high. No biggie. But that was a couple months ago. I come back tonight, and there's a pretty purple background with flowers! Awww!

Since November, dh was in the hospital til the end of Feb, when he got his left leg amputated at the knee. 2 days after that, the parents gave us a kick out notice, so we've been busy going to dr's, house hunting and living. (it really bothered me to get that notice right after surgery, when we have been paying rent all along, but I have more or less come to peace with it)

PJ, so sorry to hear about your pops-I'll keep you in my prayers tonight....It's so hard to lose a parent.

Did I hear someone say Red Hat? Do you make soaps for the Society?
