Teach Soap

I did my first MP soaps....I have dried soap base on the Pyrex cup and my spatulas and other utensils that I used to make my 4 bars and I can't see myself scrapping the dried soap off any more then I have been.

How do you get that dried soap off. Is putting it in hot water enough? will it loosen it up?

It should wash off without too much trouble. Or you can soak them for a few minutes.

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but they sure have some great ideas!

Soak them with warm water for a bit. That will make it easier to clean.

I usually turn my sink on to hot, while the water is heating up, I put about a cup of water into the measuring dish and microwave it for 30 seconds. That gets the soap inside the cup hot again and the water in it keeps the cup from melting (don't know about glass, but an empty plastic container melts in the microwave fast!) then while the soap is more liquidy again, I wash it in the hot water with dish soap - that cleans it out (and the smell) really fast.

Do not use same utensils (Pyrex, spatulas, stirring spoons) for soap that you use for food. You need a dedicated set of "tools" for soap. I use glass jars from the supermarket (spaghetti sauce, jelly, etc.) washed really carefully with about a 5% bleach solution before using the first time. They don't have measurements on them, but I weigh everything.

I've found that soaping tools never are really, really free of some soap film, no matter what I do.

I let the soap that's left over cool a bit then I start pealing it slowly from the pyrex cup,etc. When I do that it usually comes off all in one piece and that helps me not waste it.

I use a pyrex measuring cup and when I am finished I just fill it up to the top w/ scalding hot water and wait a little. The heat from the water should also take care of the outside as well. Whatever tools I use I also let them sit in the water. Anyone's advice that was given helps though, I've tried them all! lol
