Teach Soap

I read that you have to be FDA approved to use Melt and Pour soap in a business because of the chemicals used to make the bases. I thought I was safe since BB uses natural ingredients. Now I'm afraid of getting in trouble. Do I now have to be FDA approved and also do I have to put their new note on my labels?

This is one of the sites that says soaps can be concidered cosmetics and so must be FDA approved. Not sure if the BB base now falls under that category.

If a soap is concidered a cosmetic, it doesn't need to be approved by the FDA, it just needs to follow the FDA's labeling guidelines for cosmetics.

There are a couple different ways that soap can be considered a cosmetic. #1 is if you are stating that your soap or any ingredients in your soap do something more than just clean, like moisturize. #2 is if there are detergents in your MP base

If your soap is a drug (acne soap, eczema soap, etc.) then it needs to be approved by the FDA before selling it.
