Teach Soap

Everytime I have tried to make layered soap it has been a disaster. I tried the neon ambrosia soap by directions and embed soap. After cutting, the layers start peeling apart. I can take my hands and separate all the pieces out. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Layers tend to separate if there has been too long a gap between pouring. If the first layer sets up too much, the second one won't stick.

What level of firmness is your layer before you pour the next? You want to aim for a skin on top so the colours don't mix, but if you were to lightly touch the layer, you can see it still move a bit. Sort of like when you press on a water bed.

Are you using alcohol to spray between each layer? That's your 'glue' to help them stick...

Also - If I put my layered soaps into the fridge or freezer at all they will not stick together. They need to cool and set on their own on the counter.

Duh! Despite reading up on all the advice here, I was so excited I forgot to spritz alcohol on top of the first layer before pouring the second. The top layer slid on the first when I rolled it. Hey at least it didn't crack! I unrolled and separated the layers and spritzed away. After rolling them back up they actually seemed to stick together fine. *fingers crossed*



I didn't realize coral mica went pink in M&P until I started playing! The pink is scented with Buttercream & Snickerdoodle while the brown layer (came out very dark brown) is scented with Chocolate Espresso. It smells sooo good. Hopefully, the vanilla color stabilizer will work or this will soon look muddy. I also put coffee grounds in the brown part so you can see a couple specks of it on the soap.

mine cracked but it got covered up when I got it rolled so only I knew. I too get excited and fort that RA thing. LOL
