Teach Soap

I buy this mold thinking it was bigger but the butterfly are tiny. and so now I'm stuck as to what to do about it. Anyone got ideas?

How about using the butterflies as embeds or to put on top of your soaps?

Try using clear (or VERY lightly tinted) MP soap base. When it start to harden up, put the colored butterfly embeds in, but only half way. That way it will look like they are flying.

Melissa, I am terrible at embedding, too. No matter how cool I pour, I always seem to melt them, or I don't place them right and they're all wonky, or something. I gave up on embedding, unless I'm doing something abstract like a chunk loaf or something like that.

What I do like to do is make a square or rectangular bar as usual and then "glue" the embed onto the top of my soap using just a tiny bit of clear M&P base. You could so the same thing with your butterflies.

To give you an idea of what I mean, here are my Key Lime soaps. The limes were made with an ice cube tray that I picked up at the dollar store, and then I used clear base (just a little bit, or it will squish out the sides) to glue them to the soap:



I dusted the limes with some gold mica to make the details pop.

Just an idea. Would also love to see pics of your butterfly soap once they're done!

Wow, love the key lime soaps! Those are a great example of how I would use the butterfly soap too - either flat on top of the soap or a partial embed like Soapbuddy suggested in a clear light blue base with brightly colored butterflies sticking out so they look like they're in flight, or maybe even with some thin green colored curls at the bottom in the base soap or layer green and blue with the butterflies sticking out so that the butterflies look like they're flitting above "grass" into the sky.
