Has anyone used black silica in soap? If so do you have a formula to share or can you tell me how you use it and where you find it?

The only true black silica that I know of only comes from Japan and it's actually black sand. It is expensive and pretty rare. It's not something that I would want to put in soap, just to have it wash down the drain. What do you hope to achieve with black silica? Why not use black clay, activated charcoal or black mica?

Thanks again Irena for your reply. I have a friend who is Japanese. He mentioned the health benefits of black silica for silky smooth skin and conditioning. In Japan they add it to cosmetics believing it has negative ionic properties that promote the immune system and cleanse away toxins. I was thinking if I could find some I could add it to soap as a exfolient
.

I don't know where you would find it in the US that's not adultarated. If you find it and decide to use it, make sure that you don't make any medical claims. "promote the immune system and cleanse away toxins" makes a soap that in the US would fall under the OTC (over the counter) drug category. I bet you would have to charge a lot for soap made from true black silica.
