I know the voices in my head aren't real, but they sure have some great ideas!

Really I guess I am taking mineral makeup out of my product line for sale! I was due to open the store next month and this is the first I have heard of it. I am really bombed out. I wonderful if this is going to include lotion bars, massage candles and items like this too?????

When I bought insurance for my bath & body business, the insurance company would not insure me if I sold candles. Selling candles would void the whole policy. It wasn't even an option.

Well you guys are just little rays of sunshine I can live without selling the candles if be but I guess I will have to start working on all the other permits and licensing, etc., as the rest is 50% of my business. The biggest issue will be my store is on the beach in a row of buildings with just suite numbers and from what I am reading I will not be allowed to manufacture unless it is a stand alone building. Anyone else in Florida on this forum have any knowledge about this they would like to share?? Also do you all know if New York City has the same requirements? Thanks.

So crazy my nephew just opened a bakery and did not have to go through half of this stuff and we eat the things he sells, not to mention my BB products are natural, organic and good for our bodies lol

Hello Soapbuddy hope you see this post. I just wanted to thank you sooooooo very very much for sharing that post. I was saving permits, etc., for the last step and was just about to send everything to print with the new address, etc., and it would have been horrible. I got so caught up in my own dram a of what I now needed to do that I forgot to thank you for sharing a post like this with all of us. You always have our little soapy backs

Here is the Florida Statute regarding the manufacturer and sale of cosmetics. You have to read the whole statute which can be quite daunting since it also deals with drugs and there is a lot that does not apply to cosmetics.

Bottom line though is that you can not make cosmetics in a residence, that would include any out buildings in residential zoning. It should also be noted that even taking premade base and repackaging and relabeling it is regarded as cosmetic manufacturing in Florida.
