Hi there soap friends can someone help me please how much UV Inhibitor do i put in 500gm of MP soap thank you

This is what I’ve found in my research. I haven’t tried or tested the amounts listed on, but it’s somewhere to start.

Tip: Certain essential oils are phototoxic and skin sensitizers. These oils are best avoided while exposed to the sun. Angelica, Bergamot, Grapefruit, Lemon, Lemon Verbena, Lime, Mandarin, Orange, and Sweet Birch.

Mitch, I think she's talking about UV inhibitor like the one that's used for candles. You cannot post any SPF rating on any of your products for sale. If you do, it becomes a drug by FDA standards.

kaspermaz, where did your UV inhibitor come from? Not all of them are safe for body use.

Ah. I see the difference now. However, yes, I know that a license is required for any products containing SPF for sale. If it's for personal use though, make away!

BB states the usage rate to be 2-5%. So, that would be anywhere from 10-25 grams for your 500g recipe.

Strictly speaking, a license isn't required to make SPF products, at least not from a US federal point of view. State and local laws may be different. But...if you sell or possibly even give away any product that you claim has a SPF value, you must do ALL of the required safety and efficacy tests or you will be in trouble with the FDA.
