I was looking at the m&p bases at BB.

I was wondering though... since 25 lbs seems like a lot of soap. Do a lot of you just buy the clear base and add titanium dioxide to it to make it white?

When using titanium dioxide, I would also suggest mixing it in rubbing alcohol or even better- glycerin, before adding to the soap. Everytime I added it into my soap as is, it came out spotty, but when I was able to mix it in with the glycerin, I was able to get a wonderful non-spotty white color!

Hi tcmatteson,
This is kind of my answer to the question I asked above about titanium dioxide. I just saw it.
The titanium dioxide I have is a liquid in a squeeze tube. I think it is already mixed with glycerin; so I would be adding drops.
I think.

Yep, yours is already mixed with glycerin. Mine is in the powder form, so I have to mix it with something else because it doesn't disperse readily as is into the soap :(

For oil soluble TD add it to some oil. For water soluble mix it with glycerin.

What's mine than? :o or does it matter if it's already mixed?
It's from BB & it's just labeled Titanium Dioxide.

From Brambleberry:
White (titanium dioxide): This is a fantastic and easy-to-use white for melt and pour. This is normal titanium dioxide dispersed evenly in liquid glycerin. It mixes into melt and pour incredibly easily with little to no white color spotting. Unlike most Bramble Berry products, this colorants is sold by volume.

So, yours would be mixed in glycerin and I'm assuming it's from the powdered version they also sell, which is both water and oil soluble. Go BB!

Hi,
If I add titanium dioxide to an olive oil MP base, will it turn it white?

Yes, it will turn white. Remember Uranus in my planetary themed soaps? The white was done by using the TD in my clear base (a mix of aloe and honey). Even though the honey is a really yellow base, the TD was able to turn it a nice white. I did have to use about 2 of those mini scoops to color about 1 1/2 cups of the base soap, though...
