Hello again! Besides my 1lb of clear MP, I was thinking of making a facial bar for dry skin. I have very flaky dry skin that won't go away. My whipped soap isn't too bad on it, but I want to do a MP base with probably no FO added. I have 1lb of goats milk and 1lb of shea butter MP in my cart now. What types of things could I add to it to make it gentle for sensitive skin or possibly eliminate dry skin? Preferably something BB has. I do have oatmeal here that I grinded in my coffee grinder and now it's powder like. I also have milk powder or could get more of it. I see BB has 3 clays also, but Kaolin is OOS until Nov 1. I'm trying to place a small order this week which leaves Bentonite and Rhassoul clay left. I wouldn't oppose an essential oil, but rather not use them yet since I'm still learning lol
any suggestions?

For dry flaky skin, I would recommend an exfoliant once a week, then plain jojoba as a moisturizer. If your skin is so dry that it's flaky, soap won't help much. Clays are very drying which would make your condition worse.

hmm interesting lol. Any good recipes out there for exfolients? I assume that is like cream but a little scrubbier? Is this something that gets rinsed off? I know what one of my main problems is: the water itself when I rinse. I can use something and will work pretty good, but then I'll rinse my face or just use water to try to get the dry skin off and it gets worse. I swear my face is allergic to water.
I'm also trying to market something else, so it's not just for me. I wanted to start with something for dry skin, since I have it so bad, I would be the perfect test subject lol
I want to make one more thing for now but can't really decide what. I really wanted something for facial use.
Jojoba is jojoba oil right? I have some sweet almond oil here, but no jojoba oil.

Exfoliant is as simple as sugar and oil or salt and oil. You can use things like jojoba spheres, ground almond meal, cornmeal, micro scrub beads, ground adzuki beans, dried herbs or pumice. Use gently. You don't want to create micro tears on your face. Any of these need to be rinsed off thoroughly.

Jojoba is technically a plant wax, even though it's called an oil. The jojoba's structure is very similar to the structure of the skin.

Have you ever tried the oil cleansing method? You can start with half jojoba, half castor. Apply to the face, gently massage, leave on for 10 minutes, then rinse off well. You could also try a mix of EVOO, castor, jojoba and a small amount of Lavender EO.

If your skin is that dry, Shiny, skip soap altogether for a while. Definitely try the oil-cleansing method - I have wonky combination skin, & it's worked wonders. I do about 60% grapeseed, 15% jojoba & 25% castor (less castor in the winter when I get more dryness), with a few essential oils thrown in. I massage about a teaspoon into my skin while I'm in the shower, leave it on while I wash everything else, then steam it off with a hot wet washcloth. Watch your water temps when you wash your face - too hot will definitely irritate your already-dry skin.

Give hydrosols a try post-washing, as well - helichrysum is wonderful, & I bet rose would serve you well, too. Mist your face, then apply your moisturizer to your face while it's still damp to help capture the moisture.

Thank you both for the suggestions! Last night after I posted, I started playing in the kitchen and mixed some sugar with almond oil..surprisingly to me it worked pretty well! I don't use regular soap on my face, well I guess it is..it's medicated Ceptaphil (I think that's how it's spelled). I actually try not to wash my face as often as the rest of my body. I'll look into those "waters" too. I see BB does have rose water. My dry skin is back today though but not as much as usual, is this something I should do everyday or only a few times a week?
Thank you all again :)

I would do the sugar & oil once a week. You can do the rose water spray every day.
