Teach Soap

This is kind of a strange question.

I am a bit of a MAC makeup fiend and I have a lot of their pigments, if you're familiar with them (they're highly concentrated powder pigments that come in a little jar). I'm not sure what eyeshadows and pigments are comprised of, but I was wondering if you can actually use those to color your soaps. I have some really pretty colors that I imagine would impart some nice color to bath products.

Is the composition of eyeshadow pretty much the same stuff as oxides, ultramarines and micas? Or are there a bunch of additional additives that wouldn't lend themselves to the melt & pour process? I'm just curious.

Since this makeup is my own, for sanitary purposes I would of course keep any soaps I make for myself. I'm just wondering if I can do it at all. Thoughts?

Hmmmm interesting... eyeshadows are often made from mica, so, I guess in theory, you could use it? But I would have thought mica would be cheaper than MAC makeup? Worth trying once and seeing how it goes... experimentation is a wonderful thing and you can find out all sorts of things you didn't know possible!!

You're right Honey, mica would be far cheaper than the pricey MAC. The problem is, since I've had kids, I rarely go out anymore and I now have a large supply of largely unused makeup. This would be a good way to use some of it up instead of having it sit around not being used at all, know what I mean?

Try it. I don't know how well it would dissolve in soap, due to some of the fillers the make-up has.

i prob wouldnt sale those bars, just keep or give away to family and friends.
