Teach Soap

Hi again, soo many questions. Along with soap, I plan to make the whipped body butter recipe here

using different fragrance oils. My kitchen aid is the chef edition and came with a stainless steel bowl. Can I use the same bowl to cook/bake with again, and if not..why not? Another bowl is 60.00 yikes. I would assume if not, then it's because of the fragrance oil?
I suppose I could whip it up, transfer to another bowl (for soaping) and whip the frag oil in with a whisk?
I also have a smaller older mixer with the double beaters and a glass bowl, if you think glass is easier to clean then stainless steel. That would take forever though on that old thing compared to my kitchen aid lol

Over time both will pick up the fragrance oil. I had lavender lasagna once. Yuk! I now have separate bowl and whisk/beater for my KA. It's a wortwhile investment. Sometimes you can find bowls or beaters at a good price on Craigslist or e bay.

Technically speaking stainless steel won't absorb fragrances (assuming it is thoroughly washed after use), however I agree with soapbuddy and strongly discourage using anything for food prep in soap making. All it takes is the teeniest little fleck (say under the lip of the bowl) that gets missed while washing to flavor your food like a FO. Stainless steel or pyrex mixing bowls are pretty easy to find at reasonable prices, and mixing utensils abound at any dollar store.

Use separate bowls. It doesn't take long for the fragrance to sink in to the dish. I ended up buying a lot of my soap stuff on Amazon since they have some awesome, microwave safe dishes that are pretty cheap.
