Teach Soap

can anyone tell me why my melt and pour has an oily/greasy feeling...my daughters and i are really excited about learning to make soap and starting our own little shop but we dont know what we are doing wrong..we used fo and grapeseed oil is that too much???? thank you ladies....and gentlemen im sure...this seems to be such a wonderful friendly site and everyone is so helpful

You can add oils and butters to your base, but...it will only hold so much.
How much base did you start with?
How much grapeseed oil did you use?
How much f.o. did you use?
What kind of base did you use?

Hmm...it's likely you may have put in too much FO and oil. I have learned that each base is different and some can handle more oils than others. Also, I have noticed that humidity can also effect your soap.

Sounds like you added too much oil. Normal usage rate is 1 TBS. of oil(s) total per lb. of MP base. It is best to weigh your fragrance. It's used at about 0.5 oz. per lb. of base.
