Hello again guys,

I am trying to make cupcake soaps and I tried to make a swirl like top that turned out awful. I scrapped them off to try a second attempt but I am worried about messing up so wanted to know if anyone would be willing to share their technique with me ? My cupcakes quite blahhhh and the topping is a must at this point.

Thank ya

There is a few different type of ways of making the 'icing' from what I've seen.

Some people use a hand whisk/blender on M&P to whip it up and then very quickly pipe it onto the soap base. I've not tried this technique yet but I heard you must work fast as the M&P has so much air in it, that it will quickly set!

There is a tutorial by Anne-Marie on a cupcake icing seen here:

I have my own recipe of a basic bath bomb recipe (Citric Acid & Bicarb) and I mix it with cooled melted Cocoa Butter and Shea Butter and then I hand whisk it up. It actually looks just like icing and as the recipe is warm it doesn't solidify too quickly and gives you plenty of time to work with it. Once piped on I pop in the fridge to harden up for 30 minutes. I find it's hard enough to package and send to customers in the post without ruining the effect.

Anyway, hope this helps a little :)

Here is another recipe to make cupcake soap from Anne Marie

Thanks Anne Marie

I made some of these 2 nights ago and they turned out amazing and I had fun doing them.
I put my "icing" in a cake decorating machine like this one .

This one is from a place in Toronto Canada, but I have seen them at Michael's craft store as well.
I used a hand held mixer for mine since I don't have a stand one

Hope this helps and have fun

Thank you guys so much for the help,

I already made the second attempt and still not happy so I am going to add cocoa butter to it and that should allow me to be able to get it done using the bag before it hardens just as you suggested .

I will invest in one of those syringes as well for the future.

Great suggestions!

I used the recipe from A-M whipped soap tutorial. I added 55g Liquid Castille Soap to 225g M & P soap after melting, fragrancing and colouring. Then I used an electric whisk (not a beater) and whipped it mercilessly until it was light and holding peaks (like meringue). Then into a plastic piping bag with a decorative nozzle and then off I went! I just kept topping up the bag as it emptied and about halfway through the whipped soap was going a bit hard (in the bag and the bowl) so I reheated it for about 15 seconds and then re-whipped.
Three things I think are crucial:
1) Colour it dark - as it whips it lightens incredibly
2) Work FAST!! There's nothing worse than fiddling around and discovering that the soap in the bag has gone rock hard and you simply CANNOT squeeze it out of the nozzle!!
3) If it looks horrible - scrape it off and start again!! I absolutely LOVED that part!
Next time I'll pipe the frosting even higher! :D

Please please please help me. If I waste any more ingredients I think my hubby will disown me lol
I am trying to get the consistency right on my bath bombs to pipe the 'icing/frosting' and no matter what I do I cannot pipe it onto my bombs.
I am trying with the bath bomb mix and butters but just can't get my quantities right :(((
