For those of you who purchase the big bulk M&P soap bases I'm curious how you store them? Do you cut them up into manageable pieces and store in airtight plastic containers? Cut off what you need and shrink wrap the rest?

Hello! I have the luxury of buying direct from SFIC in bulk. I buy the 50 lb box cutups which are precut into logs of about 3lb's each. They are put into a big plastic bag and then nicely stacked within the box itself when picked up. I just leave all the soap in there and when I pull out a log or cut a piece off, I put the log back in, make sure all the pastic is covering up the soap and then close the box. Tahdah! - It's actually that simple. Was yours just poured straight into a plastic covering then in the box? If so I would just leave as is, and only cut out what you need. And then do the same as I do. Just put any excess back, cover the plastic and close.

I cut them up into big chunks and store them in large ziploc bags with the air squeezed out. I don't shrink wrap til the soaps are done and ready to sell.

So you find the ziplocs airtight enough? I was worried about using them b/c it seems like even though I squeeze all the air out, after awhile air seeps back in ... maybe b/c I use those zipper ones instead of the ones you just press closed, you think? I was thinking of getting one of those airtight containers like for sugar/flour stuff like that and cutting my stuff into approx one oz pieces for ease of just pulling out what I need quickly at a later time.

I got two very large 20 litre white buckets with airtight lids. Then put in two large thick plastic bags and spent an age cutting up my bases into small pieces. Then store it in the bags, tightened with the air pushed out and the then lids snapped back on so it's all airtight. NO problems at all, and it's so easy to use - weigh and off you go!

I buy my base in 11.5kg boxes which are poured directly into the bag in the box so a big load of soap to deal with in one go. My new way of prepping has saved a huge amount of time and annoyance!

I'm trying to talk my hubby into doing the prep now!

 You can cut up the soap and purchase "GAMMA LIDS" at www.bayteccontainers.com and those are for a 5-Gallon bucket and they are airtight. You need to buy the buckets separate, like at Home Depot, I think they're a little less than $3 each. They need to be new ones because if you use, used ones' the soap will smell like whatever was in the bucket. Then when they're all assembled you can fill them up with the soap and skrew the "GAMMA Lid" on.

 When you order the "GAMMA LID" make sure that it's not for a 2-gallon bucket. Get the ones' for 5-gallon. And you can purchase new 5-gallon buckets at Home Depot (the flourescent orange ones') those lids fit perfect on those. I have them. Good Luck!!! I hope this helps you.
