can anyone please tell me what i do with sls free mp base, do i add butters or oils? i have just had some given to me, i am very new to soaping and have only been reading up on cold process soap making, thank you

It's a lot easier than learning CP soap.

All you do is cut the base into chunks and melt it down in a double boiler or microwave (40% power is what I do), taking care not to over heat the base or boil it. Then you can add butters, oils, fragrance and color- depending on the amount of soap you are melting down, you just want to use a little bit of these, too much butter or oil will stop the lather on your soap. I can't give you an exact measurement because I don't know how much soap you want to melt. Then let the soap cool a bit and pour it into a mold. Easy peasy!

SLS free mp base will not lather as much as the regular MP base. I would suggest that you only add FO or fragrance. If you must add oil/butter to your base, don't add more than 1 TSP TOTAL to 1 lb. of base.
