I am looking at trying to make my soaps look a little more professional and purty. What do you guys use for that? I am so packaging stupid it isn't even funny. I kinda like the little cigar type labels. Where can I get them and how do I get them with my name and stuff on them?

You can make you own cigar bands with your name, ingredients and logo, print them on your printer, then cut them out. If you google "cigar band template" , I'm sure you'll get some hits.

Hi Red -

Whatever packaging you go with just bear in mind that your melt and pour soaps do have to wrapped first (either with shrink band, saran etc) so your soap doesn't dry out.

Does anyone here shrink wrap their soaps? If so, what sort of results have you had, and what sort of wrap do you use? I've heard there are a couple of types... PVC and Poly something. Any recommendations on what is best and a good place to purchase?

Many thanks :)

Do you still have to saran/shrink wrap your soaps if you put them in a box or a cloth bag? I had some left over material so I made some little bags to put my first soap customer's soap in, and then tied it with raphia. I like the look of it, but should I have saran wrapped it too?

Just posted this in another thing somewhere on here but, if you don't have one of those fancy machines and you are using a heat gun. What kind of shrink wrap are u supposed to use? Does it not melt/warp your soap?

The shrink wrap won't melt if you keep the heat gun moving and at least 5" away.

Hi, everybody,

I wrap my M&P in saran/cling plastic wrap, cut the excess off the back, and shrink wrap it with a heat gun (check out Anne-Marie's Soap Queen TV tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/user/soapqueentv ... D4bJgtaHMg). Then I stick an ingredients label on the back (I just use address labels, Avery 8160). I have a Chicago electric heat gun with a low temp setting of 572 degrees F and a high setting of 1112 degrees F. Definitely use the lowest setting, and keep the gun moving. Just do quick sweep-throughs. If you let the heat stream linger, it'll either melt your soap or pop a hole in your plastic.

I got my shrink-wrapping stuff at Cajun's Candles: http://www.cajuncandles.com/shrink-wrap-systems.html. The kit came with shrink wrap bags and a sealer, but, frankly, I found saran wrap easier to use. If I want to protect my soap further, say like for shipping, I wrap the shrink-wrapped bar in cellophane like I'm wrapping a present.

Hope that helps! :D
