Teach Soap

Hello,
I'm new here and and have been soap making on and off for about a year. I'm in awe of how much every knows so I'm excited to get an answer to my dilemma!
Every time I use my soaps it leaves my skin so dry and leaves residue behind. I've added moisturizers (goats milk and shea butter) but I still have the same result.

What's going on?? I'm really disappointed....

Which MP base are you using and where are you buying it from?

That's very unusual for an M&P soap as they tend to be very moisturising. How do you process it? Wondering if it's overheated and a lot of the water in it has evaporated? Hmmmmmm not sure on this one.

I purchased my soap from Wholesale Supplies Plus. I'm working with the "creamy coconut" and "olive oil" base.

To process it I place a large glass measuring cup in a pot of boiling water. I left the base melt, I add my additives (usually a fragrance). I thought maybe it was what I was adding in the soap so I eliminated that from my process to see what would happen. Same thing.

is there a time limit to how long I should let it melt?

If you cut it into cubes, it should melt easier. Don't let it melt all the way. Take it off heat when small pieces remain, and with stirring, you should be able to melt the rest all the way by hand. I just went to their web site and I don't see a creamy coconut? Was it a clearance item?

I believe it was a clearance item. It's been a little over a year. Maybe the age of it has something to do with it, huh? I should just buy some more to find out.....

I am going to try the melting technique you mentioned and see what happens. Thank you for the tip!!

If anyone else has any suggestions please let me know!

It's possible since it's a year old that it has dried out some.
