Teach Soap

Hi, y'all. I'm new to soap making and am so excited I found this forum and BB. I saw Anne-Marie's tutorial on the little embedded penguin soap and wanted to buy the glitter and whatnot from BB, but when I saw the iridescent glitter on the BB site, it says it is shreds not flakes and not for use in soap for children. Do you know if this is the same glitter used in the soap or where I could get it? Thanks for your help! --Michelle

Huh, that's interesting. I'm confused, too. See, I bought the glitter sampler pack a while back and it contains an "Iridescent Glitter" and a "Shredded Glitter." (Two separate glitters.) But the BB description makes them sound like they are one and the same.

The iridescent glitter I had in my sample pack is the flat, round pieces of glitter that I am accustomed to seeing. The shredded glitter, though, looks like short little hairs. If you ordered the iridescent glitter, I don't know which you'd get. I guess the iridescent glitter is the shredded glitter now?

I'd like more clarification, too.

Sorry for the confusion!

We had both, now it just looks like we only carry the shredded. I will see what happened... usually this is because our supplier stopped carrying it.

The shredded is skin safe and safe for soap. It can just be a little scratchy. Exfoliates great, but would probably be uncomfortable for a little one.

Okay - so we DO still have both! One of them just decided to hide when we switched the site around. Thanks for helping up catch that! They are both up on the site now. The first one that comes up and has a picture is just called 'Iridescent glitter' this is the smoother, round one that is much softer on the skin.

The second one down is just as pretty, but shaped more like rice to give more of an exfoliating feel. It is 'Shredded Iridescent Glitter' This is the one we do not recommend for children or people with sensitive skin.
