About 130 - 120 degrees F or so - it will look sort of like it's beginning to gel and you should be able to put your little finger in with no discomfort (careful doing that though)

What happens if your soap does boil? I've had that happen. My soap is heated in the microwave on half power, but I do tend to set it for several minutes if I'm doing a quart or more of M&P.

If MP boils, extra water or moisture evaporates. It could make your soap crack, turn darker in color or smell like it's burnt.

Yes, I'm afraid I have burned some on occasion. I do have another question.

It has been said that the LCP base doesn't sweat as badly. We were advised to cover our MP when in the microwave to prevent the loss of moisture. If we do not cover it, does it make it more like LCP base? What evaporates out, and how does it affect the soap?

LCP base has less glycerin than the regular bases. To prevent moisture loss, it is always advisable to cover your soap while melting.

Sorry it took so long to post this. I had it ready but turned my attention to my Halloween items...

So - what do you think? - I totally *love* it, except that the vegetable base isn't that 'super clear' base so it does appear to be kind of yellowish which I was expecting. I know that fragrances can also cause that to happen. I used "Holiday Candy" from BB.

A few small bubbles appeared here and there. I poured before I got PJ's response to use a skewer to help remove the bubbles, but other than that I hope people will buy it!!

Comments - good, bad or suggested improvements are wanted.

Wow, those look really nice! I was wondering how you were going to tackle this project, and I know a lot of thought and work went into it. Glad it turned out well.

I'll bet the Holiday Candy scent smells great, too. We all have feel-good memories about candy -- especially Christmas candy -- and I remember those ribbons of red, white, and green sugary goodness. Yum! It's so cool that your soap can bring those memories back.

Good job, and thanks for sharing! :D
