Hi everyone, I am new to this forum... I have read quite a few posts and recently made my first purchase from Bramble Berry. I have been doing candles for 6+ years and soaps and B&B products for about the last 2 years also. I am from Northeast Michigan.

So here is my ?
I recently went on a Sunday drive and found a shop and purchased some Loofah. Before using it in my MP,... I am wondering what the best way to clean it would be? Should I use a mild bleach/water solution to make sure it is sterile?

Also, it is in long pieces... so I can cut it to my own width.... when is it easiest to cut? Wet or dry?

One more thing... is it possible to re-use the loofah again after the bar of soap is gone?

Any tips & advice would be much appreciated!
Thanks,

You can use a mild bleach/water solution. It will make it more sanitary, but it will not make it sterile. I would not reuse it after you are done with the soap.

i would like to add that if you add bleach you have people that have bleach allergies like myself... that would be an issue... i use just plain water mixed with lemon eo to clean them and have always had success with that, but then again i cant touch bleach LOL .. well hope that helps!

Ok, thanks for the replies....
I ment sanitary... not sterile.... just couldn't think of the word when I wrote the first post. :P lol

So how about cutting it... has anyone had issues slicing the long pieces when it is dry? To me, it seems like it would crumble like shredded wheat.... Should I slice it while it is still wet after I cleanse it??

Thanks,

I've used a large serrated bread knife to cut the loofah after it's dry. You will get some crumbles, but it shouldn't be too bad.
