Teach Soap

So I'm more than ready to start making soaps & would love to make some of the gorgeous, detailed ones BUT you have to walk before you can run so for someone who's ready to try making there 1st bars of M&P soap (clear & opaque) how much base would I need if I wanted to try making a few bars of each... I'm not sure how much to buy & I'm afraid I'm not going to buy enough.... I don't know what the usual weight is of 1 solid bar, but to make it easy... say they were 1/2 - 3/4's of a lb each (sounds kind of large but like I said I don't what the average is & whatnot)

MP bars are usually around 4 ozs. each. It also depends on what kind of a mold you use.

There are melt and our kits here; they will come with everything you need and instructions.

If you don't want a kit right now then I would say that 1 or 2 pounds of Melt and Pour, an ounce of fragrance and the smallest sized container of mica (usually 1 oz) would work to start. It does depend on your mold but you can usually get about 4 bars of soap per pound of melt and pour.

You can also purchase a mold or use anything 'tupperware like' that you have around the house.

A spritzer bottle of alcohol helps give the soap a nice, smooth look and saran wrap is good to have to wrap the soap with after you are finished.
