Teach Soap

\I have made a lovely liquid soap(experiment) using a bar of M&P . I followed a recipie I found online using any natural bar of soap , adding the shredded soap to one gallon of hot distilled water ( used a crock pot) then blending it when melted letting it sit 24 hrs blending ti again well you get the picture. It has been almost a week and see no seperation ,which is what I was afraid of, it lathers great and is equal in consistancy to other liqiud soap bases I have purchaed premade.Have any of you ever made liquid soap this way??? And why don't more people do this?? Or is there somthing I don't know? I took about 7oz's of melt and pour base and made 1 gallon of hand soap scented with essential oils. Talk about cost effective. Opinions PLEASE

I've done it and it came out snotty. I was also told that I need a preservative, since it has a lot of water.

I have never tried making liquid soap, probably because I love using bars. But it's neat to hear of new and different ways to use M&P base!

I have tried to make liquid soap this way and it got all snotty on me ... but it sounds like you might have found the holy grail! I'd love more details (brand of base, temperature of water etc...)

Hi All HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!!!!!!!!!
My daughter tried the soap she felt it was a little to liquidy so this being an experiment I decided to try things to thicken it up so I heated it up in my crock pot again and added about 3 tablespoons of stearic acid which goes into my lotion recipie from BB at about 5% weight of product,this seemed to do nothing,I melted it first and introduced it into warm soap( almost hot). So then I decided to try COCO butter which I fiqured would thicken the mix after it cooled NO. Then I tried ARROWROOT POWDER you get the picture.I shuld have just added some more M&P base. Anyway the secret seems to be in the blending with my stick blender when its warm then the next day blending it more. I am going to get this right, I am determined. carolynp
