Castor oil, is it in there? I'm confused. I bought a number of SFIC bases from SoutherSoapers during there big pre-buy. On the soap and on their website their ingredients include castor oil. But the SFIC website and Brambleberry website do not. What's going on here. I don't want to mis label my products. Thanks!

I guess I'm confused too. BrambleBerry sells SFIC base as well and nowhere is there castor oil listed.
I would send SoutherSoapers an email and ask.

Kelly from SSers got back to me to let me know the SFIC website only discloses all ingredients if you ask them. Which seems odd to me. Maybe I need to wtite to them (SFIC) to confirm? Anyone from BB have thoughts on this?

That sounds odd to me as well. I know Anne-Marie gets the same bases and has their ingredients listed on her web site and that's one ingredient that is not there.

Well, I don't know what to do. I guess i will keep labeling my soaps to include castor oil to be on the safe side. I don't want to omit a potential ingredient, but I'm still not convinced it's truly in there.

I mostly use Anne-Marie's bases, so I will stick with my ingredient list for now.

I still finds this really strange. I wonder if someone could call SFIC and ask?

Ann Maries bases are SFIC aren't they? Or does she make her own? I will probably email SFIC tomorrow, but if the castor oil is really in there I am sure Brambleberry would know about it and label it. Does anyone else sell SFIC? Maybe i will look around and see what other sites say.

This is so strange, I googled SFIC goats milk soap and the first three pages I have seen so far all include castor oil!

http://tennesseecandlesupplies.com/inde ... b3f07233d7

https://www.oakcourtcreations.com/Produ ... roduct=522

http://www.kangarooblue.com/index.php?m ... cts_id=497

So, does BB get their own formulation w/o it?

I just checked the pages I printed out last June of the ingredients for the soap bases on the Bramble Berry site and castor oil is listed in the ingredients. Now it's not.

Hi All from sunny Hawaii. My plane leaves today in just a few hours and it's been a lovely working break from the rain and snow in Bellingham.

I just spoke to Jenny from SFIC and confirmed that the ingredient listing that Bramble Berry has on its website is correct. The house bases do not contain castor oil. The formulation was changed in July 2008 and our site was updated as we switched batches and got new shipments.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. I'm always happy to help.

Thanks Anne-Marie!
I'm glad to know that I don't have to change my labels. I hope you had a good time in Hawaii!

Response from SFIC confirms the same thing Ann Marie already posted.

"Hello Shannon,
We recently changed our formula to exclude the castor oil and now only use the coconut oil, palm oil and sunflower oil.
Thanks so much for your quesiton!
SFIC Customer Service"

If this change occurred last July, and Souther Soapers placed their pre-buy orders in January of this year, then in theory there shouldn't be any castor oil. Time to email Kelly again. Hope I don't drive her nuts! :)
