Teach Soap

Argh! Is there a trick to getting mp soap out of the small, multi-cavity plastic molds? I don't suppose there's a mold release like for candles? I've got them in the freezer now...

There is a mold release thing I believe, you'd probably have to check out bramble berry or Google it. Remember to not keep them in the freezer for too long otherwise there will be glycerin dew which can be annoying and can leave spots on your soap. leaving the soaps in the freezer for 15-30min would be best.

Soapbuddy's right the freezer is your friend for that stuff. But if that doesn't work, just remember to make them well ahead of time and let evaporation pull them from the sides.

You know, I deal with this problem way too much to still be dealing with it myself....hmmm...I bet there's a spray teflon we could get at a hardware store to lightly coat our teeny plastic, multi-cavity molds. I use such molds for painting embeds, so I don't want anything coming off on the soap like oils and such. I will call the hardware store tomorrow, maybe I can even find a teflon-type spray that is food safe (so we'd know it's not coming off on our soap). *makes a note*

Try cyclomethicone spray, but I don't know how well that would work with painted on tiny details like yours.

Thanks, everyone. I might try some today with cyclo spray and see what happens. I'm wondering...since cylco is a cuticle sealant (on hair), would it "seal" my soap and cut down on the dew...

Yes, the freezer is great, but I only use it if I absolutely have to. It can leave glycerin dew and also over time can make your molds brittle.

Thanks for the suggestion soapbuddy. I've ordered two products to test (both food grade), if either work out without leaving a residue I'll let you all know.
