Teach Soap

Has anyone mixed the lcp m&p base soap from brambleberry with say the shea butter base or the goat's milk base? If you did, did you like the way it turned out? What would you do differently? Can you even mix the two together and get a good hard soap you can wrap in paper? Or will it need to be plastic wrapped?

Thoughts...?

I have mixed white and clear M/P soap bases together to play with different hues of color, but if you're doing it with a regular glycerin base and LCP base I think it would diminish the LCP properties. What properties are you trying to achieve by mixing?

From everything I have read, any glycerin base soap should be wrapped in air tight plastic wrap or the moisture will evaporate leaving you with a drying bar of soap. If you want to wrap it in paper for the look, I would wrap it in a plastic airtight wrapper first.

Well, reading all the reviews about the lcp soap being a little dry on skin. I was wondering if you took maybe 80% lcp and 20% shea/goats milk and used them together if it would make a better bar that wasn't as drying and could be wrapped in paper still. I live in south Texas and my m & p's haven't sweated when I've made them, but we are just getting our humidity back. And I've not had much success with shrink wrapping my soaps, but moderate success in wrapping them in plastic. So I was trying to get the best of both worlds. If this makes sense.

Oh, I see. You could try it, I don't think it would hurt your bar of soap. But maybe see if the regular glycerin soap will sweat where you are first. The LCP is, I believe, the same as low sweat glycerin base, which I use for my novelty soaps. I live in NC and even the low sweat will sweat when out at a craft fair if it's not wrapped well.

Just curious, what type of problem are you having with shrink wrapping? People here can probably help you trouble shoot. I know when I first started I would get frustrated because I would always put a hole in the wrapper and have to do it over. It takes some practice to get fast and proficient at it.
